After Six Banyan Temple, we stopped off at the Chen Clan Academy (images below), a compound built during the Qing Dynasty (this Dynasty was the last; the compound, now a museum, was built over the course of 4 years, during the very early 1900's). The photos below include topiary Fu Lions, ornate carving and porcelain designs of the roof of the compound, amazing Bonsai (there were tons of them), then taking a taxi home early (while The Little One was happy and engaged, i.e., not overwhelmed). The rest of the day was spent happily playing in our room: that is, until she had a long grieving session of inconsolable crying (you can just f-e-e-l the emotion she is expressing). This necessitates an hour or more of rocking and telling her how much we love her, while she cries and cries. Then, there are quite a few overwhelming sighs followed by the most amazing happiness. Tonight she ate cream of broccoli baby food, fried rice (my dinner), and chicken (Chris' dinner). It was the first time she didn't want a bottle (she pushed it away, and pointed at our food). She knows who we are, by name (i.e., Mommy and Daddy). She also seems to be able to point at the pictures of Gus and Chloe, when we say their names. And, she learned to "sign" for the bottle earlier today. She's brilliant, obviously :)
