Somebody Pinch Us!

Had a great day (shopping and eating Chinese food). We went to our first restaurant with Willow today. She ate everything: noodles, fried rice, chicken, mushrooms, broccoli-type greens (she's like her grandmother). We also went shopping for some of those amazing clothes the Chinese children wear: they are really puffy and soft (e.g., velvet outside, stuffing middle layer, and fleece or flannel insides--all of which are wonderful colors and patterns). We went to the wholesale market for children's clothing: most of the items we were able to purchase (very, very inexpensive), though a few stores were only selling to wholesale purchasers. She really enjoyed looking around (I usually keep the hood over her head, to keep the stimulation at a minimum, but she wanted to look!). As long as I am holding her, she is super happy (she reaches out for me now, which melts my heart).
We keep pinching ourselves; we are so crazy about her ... she is perfect. More pictures are posted, below (she loves to play peekaboo, but enjoys doing it to us the best--see last picture).
Tomorrow we are taking her to a Temple to be blessed by a Monk (the traditional ceremony for Chinese children). In case you are interested in more mundane items, we usually only leave the hotel room for a few hours each day (we don't want to overstimulate Willow). The buffet breakfast is fantastic (including the on-demand-freshly-ground coffee, for example). We haven't gone out for dinner because we are all usually too tired and we enjoy settling down with The Little One (there are a lot of restaurants that deliver, or prepare orders to-go; otherwise, the hotel has some great chicken curry and fried rice). Willow has been sleeping (for the most part), from 7 pm to 6:30 am (though she woke up at 8:30 tonight and cried until I got the bottle ready for her)(what a darling ... just listening to her nurse ... it is so pure). She used the potty twice today (for #2). We also gave her benadryl this evening because the dang scabies are driving her nuts (she scratches and scratches because the itching is so intense). Hopefully the medicine (permethrin creme) will delete them. Goodnight friends and family.

We are loving all the details and none are too mundane! You look like such a natural Mommy and I am sooooooooooooooooo happy for you I can barely stand it. So sorry the button has scabies, poor thing! Willow is so precious and sounds like she is adjusting quickly.
I had a patient on Friday who was adopted from China. She is 13 and has Spina Bifida. She has kidney problems, but walks well after surgeries and is a sweet beatuiful girl. I showed her and her Mom your blog. Love ya, Hugs and kisses to all three of you!
