Caption: waiting for Mom, who is shopping in a little street-store for fleece-lined velvet pants for Willow (6 pairs in total ... the colors were impossible to resist; the comfort-level will be perfect for Minnesota's winter). The first pair were purchased in Suzhou, with our friends Jialing and Bonnee, and I've been on the hunt ever since.
Willow is asleep and is therefore unable to blog right now. So, instead I think I will just post a bunch of pictures from today (low-key day ... bookstore for Dad, velvet puffy pants and crayons for Willow, and some art supplies for Mom.
Quite a few of you have asked when we are coming home ... we fly into Minneapolis on the 16th of January. We can't wait to see Chloe and Gus ... and get some sweet doggie kisses. And, of course, the obvious: what will they think of Willow (she's not walking yet ... or if she was--in any substantial way, she hasn't done so since we have had her). She did try to stand up a couple of times, though. That said, we are letting her "be a baby" if that's what she needs to do to feel safe and secure.
Willow displayed some random acts of signing today, in context (and unprovoked). She's only seen part of the signing video for two nights). She signs Daddy and Mommy, and dog ... without provocation. How sweet is that! I will also post the pictures of Chloe and Gus, which we show Willow. She can point to them, by name. These pictures were taken this spring, in a field of poppies down the street from our former California house.
Off topic, but worthy of mention nevertheless: Meryl's Mom (Nardia) passed her driving (road) test yesterday, which is cause for celebration ... "Snaps for The Nard" (if you haven't seen Legally Blonde II, the last comment will be lost on you).
Okay, now for tonights entertainment (below):
This is a letter that ayi Sara (auntie Sara) wrote for us to post in Starbucks, where Chris lost the camera ... the Chinese written language is so amazingly beautiful and artful.
Chloe, P.U. (Princess of the Universe)

What a great beginning to the next season in your lives. The three of you (and the rest of the family when possible) look so good together. I can't wait to visit the park in the spring, to meet Meryl and Willow and to watch to miracle of a blossoming Willow unfold as well!
