Just Magical and Perfect: NOT entirely

Although I tend to post the magical pictures that hint at the perfect family living in harmony, that isn't really the way it is all the time of course. It happens, and it is wonderful because it is something to hold onto to when the going gets rough, but it is very hard to tip the three-some apple cart and add another child. Hard because we have again gone out on an 18-year-long blind date. Hard because we can't know what she needs all the time: is the crying from gas or grief? Heat or hysteria? Constipation or constitution? And, of course, we all are in various stages of shock and elation.

I appreciate your honesty. We are right behind you as we add to our family of 3 and some days I am a little frightened by what life will be like. I know eventually it will smooth out, but definately a long road ahead.

Hang in there!

It sure sounds like and adventure and you strike me as an adventurer. My heart melts each time I look at those girls and think how lucky they are to be with you and you to be their parents, joy everywhere. The wide open smiles on Willow's face says it all.

I was so happy to see these great pics when I arrived home!! I of course have thought of you often! Reading about your trip has given me adoption flashbacks, good and not so good!! I hope we can see you soon and meet your new little one! I wish only the best for you all, say hi to Willow for me, Suzanne

Meryl, 'with Ruby... the first 3 months were pretty difficult. Mostly because it was hard for Carly to adjust to NOT being the only light of our day. 'it took 6 months with Sam. Partly because he was older and that Ruby stopped sleeping through the night. She was MAD and up 10x/night every night. But after this "adjusting period," life was GREAT! Usually. Sundays are good days for us to meet, help, ...

Thinking of you...

Thanks for posting. Your new little girls is absolutely adorable.

As to "not all perfect..." I personally believe adding to a family, whether by birth or adoption, is bleeping hard! Thanks for sharing that you haven't found the experience all roses all the time either. It's nice to know I'm not the only one!

Hang in there and please stay in touch.

You'll rapidly get used to it :) Initially it seems like a lot more work but it quickly becomes the new norm. They're fun, even though sometimes I'd like to wring their necks (the fighting gets to me...). Enjoy the start of your 18-year adventure!!! They're adorable!
