Willow woke up this morning quite "happy" (we were shocked). She certainly was out of sorts all day, and she slept more than usual, but she was much better than I could have hoped for.
Sad moment because I've put her "no-no" arm braces back on (so she can't reach her mouth). She's very unhappy about this (as Daddy took them off earlier ... )

All-in-all, it has not seemed that bad for everyone (not that I can defifnitively speak for Willow). Although there has certainly been discomfort (we are not sure how bad it is: is Willow particularly pain-tolerant, or are the medications keeping the pain-demon at bay?) This is why God invented Tylenol #3: to help children with intense pain.
We all slept more than expected, though Mom stayed up until 2:30 am (to make sure Willow was still breathing and didn't have a bad reaction to the codeine, and because she was recovering from the adrenaline overload in her bloodstream from our time in the recovery room at the hospital). Below is a picture of the appliance (don't look if you are overly squeamish); not all the wires or plastic in her mouth are visible, but you'll get the idea.
Please pray for resilience for this wonderful little child. Thank you and goodnight.

QQ hated those no-nos the first time around, but was surprisingly magnanimous about them after the second surgery.
Poor little one! Wishing her a speedy recovery.
ps - Daddy is always the "soft one" when it comes to taking off the no-nos around here, too.
And as for the resilience of these amazing kiddos? QQ didn't even need her painkillers after this surgery. They only allowed tylenol and ibuprofen, and we gave them for the first 24 hours, but it was clear that she didn't need them after that. She's a happy little camper now.
